We are now a family of four! We're so happy to announce that Cal Douglas Hauan made it safely into the world on November 12th, 2011. He weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and measured 20 inches. Overall, labor and delivery went fairly smoothly. Here's a
brief summary: I walked four miles on Friday afternoon in an attempt to have a baby on 11/11/11... I labored at home until about 7:00 and after we put Julia to bed, my friend Cindy came over to babysit as my parents were en route to Rochester to be with Julia... We traveled to the hospital and continued to labor for a bit in the room and walked in the hallways... Again, in an attempt to have a baby on 11/11/11, they broke my water at 8:20... I received an epidural around 9:30 which turned out to be a bit patchy (I realize it could have been much worse)... Cal needed to be closely monitored as he seemed to be a bit stressed during my contractions... He decided he was ready to be born at 1:40 a.m.... His umbilical cord wrapped around his neck and needed a bit of suctioning right away, other than that he was doing just great. We had a wonderful hospital stay and are loving our little guy oh so much. Julia has been nothing but super sweet to him--we are so very proud of her and are hoping she continues to do so well with this big transition. Thank you all for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. We are feeling your love and sending it right back!
